Breaking Links: Monday Music Notes

  • Jenn Grant's new album "Echoes" will hit stores (real and virtual) on Feb. 3. There is a review, interview and a free MP3 on Herohill and she is the featured artist on this week's Anti-Hit List podcast from the Toronto Star.


  • Black Diamond Bay led by ex-Dears guitarist Patrick Krief reports that the new album is done. It will be released on March 31 but the finished version of some of the songs are up on the group's Myspace now.


  • the Dudes have finished their new album with one exception - the singalong that they want you to sing on has yet to be mixed so that people have more time to get recordings in.


  • Winnipeg's Boats!! is having a fundraiser on January 31 to help them pay their way to SXSW because "holy god it's expensive". The show will be at the lo-pub with the Liptonians and Blue Sky addicts and the band makes this promise:"Seriously, we got a whole whack of new songs we will unleash on your unsuspecting hides. We're gonna play so hard all y'all won't even notice your shoes being tied together, then when you try to rock out you'll totally fall over. We will find it amusing."





  • Calgary's Dragon Fli Empire have a new album up on CD baby and at select Calgary music stores.


  • Hamilton's Arkells have added Western Canadian Dates to their tour with the Waking Eyes.
