Passchendeale

The last weekend of the Toronto International Film Festival is almost upon us. One of the films that came out of it that I, and I believe alot of Canada are dying to see is Paul Gross' film Passchendaele.

Based on the experiences of Paul Gross' grandfather, it tells the tale of Canadian soldiers on the front lines during World War 1. Passchendeale, in case you don't know, is where Flanders Field can be found.

It is, sad that these stories may cease to be told due to threat's to the Canadian film industry and that we may have to settle for the American version, where they single handedly won WWI and II and the Canadians weren't even there.

"There is a Canadian culture that is in some ways unique to Canada, but I don't think Canadian culture coincides neatly with borders."

-Stephen Harper
