CBC's Board of Directors

Many people believe that the CBC is run by the Government. This is not quite true. While the Canadian Government provides funding and lays out the CBC's mandate the Government does not directly control the CBC. Instead a board of directors appointed by the Government provides oversight - maintaining an 'arms length' relationship between Parliament and the national public broadcaster.

If the CBC seems of late to be suffering from a bit of an identity crisis the board of directors may provide some clues as to why. From Tod Maffin at Inside the CBC comes a breakdown of exactly who sits on that board. With the recent addition of 2 more lawyers to the board, it now looks like this.
