Walk All Over Me

Via CBC Radio 3 and First Weekend Club: A little film you might want to see this weekend. I know, you have xmas shopping to do, but when the crowds get to you and you need to hide for a couple of hours...

From CBC Radio 3
Everyone from Jill Barber, Champion, Bell Orchestre, to Circlesquare sets the tone of this movie. Not too surprising since the writers, Calgarian natives Jason Long and Robert Cuffley are close friends of the Canadian music scene. In his sordid past, Robert has directed numerous music videos from Huevos Rancheros, Veda Hille, Lotus Galaxy (look for an incredible performance from the extra playing Drunk #2) to a little-known singer from Calgary named Tariq.

First Weekend Club:
Melora Koepke of Hour Magazine in Montreal called WALK ALL OVER ME “the Best Canadian Film to come out of the Toronto International Film Festival in many years.” Alberta, played by Hollywood indie fave Leelee Sobieski (Eyes Wide Shut, Joan of Arc), flees her small town troubles with nothing to her name except her name. With hopes for a new chance at life, she hops a bus to the big city and knocks on the door of the only contact she has—her former babysitter, who is now a fulltime dominatrix—played by Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica). What starts as Alberta's innocent curiosity into her new roommate's “double life” quickly becomes a back-peddling effort involving stolen money, men acting like dogs, a gift-box toupee, not to mention hasty relocation. Through the film's themes of adversity & perseverance, power & control, Alberta sheds the self of her past and slowly comes to know the freedom of her own inner strength. When Celene is dragged into the consequences of Alberta’s missteps, Alberta is forced to walk right into the centre of the dangerous mess she has created. WALK ALL OVER ME also features strong performances from Lothaire Bluteau, Jacob Tierney, Michael Eklund, Michael Adamwaithe and Ross McMillan.
