The CBC Archives website, as the name implies, focuses on what's in the vaults of the CBC. It takes old television programs, interviews, news clips, and more and makes them available digitally to Canadians. It covers categories from arts & entertainment, science and technology, and politics to sports, lifestyle and society and it provides resources for teachers.
This is Canada's history, it's political, cultural and social history and at some point in the past Canadians paid (through subsidies) for all of this material. It is owned by you and presented to you at http://archives.cbc.ca.
The reason that I'm reminding you of all of this is because rumor has it that the archives website is in jeopardy. Due to CBC's annual budget reductions the archives website may be done away with and all of this material would be buried back in the vaults where Canadians have no access to it.
So, just to make sure this doesn't happen please drop an email to the CBC through their website at http://www.cbc.ca/contact/ and let them know that you think the archives website is important. You can also become a fan of the CBC archives on Facebook.
