Find (or Write) the New Hockey Song

The CBC Hockey Challenge site is up and in full swing at anthemchallenge.cbc.ca. Submissions are being accepted between now and August 31 for a chance to win
"• Bragging Rights: the world will know you wrote an anthem that will be a key part of CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada’s broadcast. The winning Theme will be broadcast as a key part of the program during the 2008-9 hockey season, and potentially beyond.
Cash: $100,000 (CDN), and half of the royalties for public performance of the Theme will be paid to the Songwriter(s), and half will be donated by CBC to minor league hockey.
"
Although there is nothing in this contest about "artistic merit" it is financially the same as 5 Polaris Music Prizes and, my guess is, (although it's sad) that the winner will find more Canadians who care about Hockey Night in Canada than Canadians who care about 'artistic merit'.

There are already hundreds of entries on the site that you can listen to and rate, although official voting doesn't start until October 4. (All the rules and regulations and legal fine print are also on the site).

People should know what they are really getting themselves into if they enter this contest.
