Everyone Pitch in For Library Voices

As I told you recently Library Voices recently had their gear stolen after a performance. Now they, and some of their friends, are having a fundraiser to try to help them get back to where they need to be.
"In the spirit of rock and roll, the group has rented/borrowed enough equipment to continue touring but the incident has proved to be a giant setback and are hoping the community pulls together to support an evening of live music - which in turn will help them replace a portion of what was stolen.

Library Voices has curated a diverse evening of music, pooling musicians from all over Saskatchewan to join the festivities. Estevan, Carlyle, Yorkton, Balgonie, Moose Jaw, Regina, and Saskatoon will be represented on stage.

The band prides itself on it's unique and diverse instrumentation - and so at this time they are also bowing their heads, with their tails between their legs and announcing that they will graciously accept any donations of old and unused instruments you may have cluttering up your garage or storage rooms. They solemnly swear that every donation will make an appearance on an upcoming recording. (contact: michael@youngsoulrecords.com)"
The actual show is Friday, March 27 at the Exchange (2431 8th ave, Regina, Sk) and will feature, in addition to Library Voices, Volcanoless in Canada, Andy Shauf
and Matt Goud.

So, whether you are in Regina or not lend a hand when you can, and pass this on to others.

The Facebook Event page is here.

Can Rock Plaza Central Stay at Your House?

From their Myspace blog: Rock Plaza Central are looking for places to crash during their upcoming western tour. Imagine, while your friends are bringing home CDs and T-shirts, you can bring home the band!
Last time we went out West on tour, we stayed with so many wonderful people. For me, it was probably the best part of it. Getting to know so many of you who like what we do. Any chance anyone would like to put up five musicians again? We have mats and sleeping bags. We just can't handle pets because of allergies.

In addition to the dates on our page, we're also likely to be in and around LA and San Diego in the June 15-16 area, Phoenix on the 17 and Missoula, Montana on June 22. Then back into Canada for what looks to be:

Lethbridge june 23, Edmonton the 24, Red Deer the 25, Saskatoon on the 30, Regina the 31, and Winnipeg July 1, my sister's birthday.

Then I think it's Madison, Des Moines and Iowa City or Chicago?

Please fire me an email at chrisrulesbigtime at sympatico dot ca is you think you can help. Thanks!

Art in Regina: Nicole Ooms

Art is hard, this is pretty common knowledge. Making a living at art is next to impossible - ask anyone who's tried. It is, I suppose, somewhat easier if you live in a city with a sizable market and appetite for art - Paris, New York, London..or in Canada Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver

What this all adds up to is that it is respectably difficult to make a living in art when you live in Regina, Saskatchewan. That being said, my friend Nicole Ooms is giving it a shot : She is doing some spectacular art and photography which you will likely never see unless you happen to turn up in the right place, at the right time during your next trip to Regina OR you go have a look in her new Facebook Fan Page - which, obviously, I think you should do!
