Since Wavelength and Jen have both given a shoutout this week to Colin Medley his ego probably doesn't need any more inflation. Still Medley, winner of this years CBC Radio 3 Bucky Award for 'Best Fan', does amazing video for the National Post. If you have a YouTube account, or have been thinking about getting one you should subscribe to his YouTube channel.
Toronto's Ohbijou announced today on their Myspace blog that they have delayed the launch of the highly anticipated CD Beacons and signed a new deal with British label Bell Union. Congratulations to the band and I know I speak for every music lover in Toronto in wishing them the very best.
It is a little painful to see companies from other countries taking a slice of Canada's greatest natural resource (artists) and largest remaining industry (arts and culture) but there are no protectionists round here.
On October 4 Toronto's highly acclaimed Ohbijou are kicking off a tour across North America (including their first visit to the U.S.) joining them on tour are Ottawa's the Acorn. Here's a little taste of each in case you don't know (or just feel like watching a video) - tour dates follow:
The Acorn - Flood Pt. 1 p.s. you can also download a live in studio session from the Acorn from the CBC Radio 3 Sessions.
Ohbijou - the Woods p.s. you can also hear Ohbijou on CBC Radio 2's Concerts on Demand
I'll be in cottage country glued to the deck this Friday, but if you're in Toronto head down to Harbourfront Centre at 8 pm for a free show by Ohbijou. I'm convinced they deliberately schedule these things for days when I'm out of town, but don't hold that against them - it's no reason to miss what promises to be an awesome FREE show.
