No one's economic picture is looking great these days but for charities things are getting especially dangerous. Unlike many business as their revenues decline their demand is going up. From the CBC: "Paul Taylor, chief investment officer with BMO Harris, said many charitable foundations in Canada have seen their investments drop because of plunging global stock markets.Some time ago I set up the Facebook group Toronto the Good to help with local emergencies. If there are other groups I should be aware of, people especially in need, or if you have plans for or ideas for fundraisers please let me know and I'll do what I can to help.
"Donations from the donor community are dramatically lower because individuals are feeling the wealth effect," Taylor said. "They're being laid off as well and … the need for service is going up, so it's the perfect storm for them.""
